Cloudless and Clear
Hand-pulled reductive linocut on Strathmore 120gsm paper.
Image size: 12" x 9", Paper size: 14" x 11".
Limited edition of 9, 2023. Signed and numbered in pencil.
This print is inspired by the northern lights/aurora borealis - it is an imagined landscape based on many different images that I've seen online. I've yet to see them with my own eyes, but I hope to be able to one day. Whenever I do look up at the great open sky, whether is the wide-open blue of day of the twinkles of night, it always makes me feel calmer and more collected. It just seems like any problems I may have are miniscule compared with the great universe out there. This print was also inspired by that deep blue calmness.
It is a reductive linocut print, so only one lino block was involved. Each successive color layer was hand drawn, transferred onto the same lino block, printed, and then carved away in order to make the next color layer. Because of this process of "no return" it is also commonly known as a "suicide" print.
Print only, frame not included.
