Hatchlings #21 - tan
Hand-pulled collagraph, blind embossment print on tan Rives BFK 250gsm paper.
Image size: 7" x 7", Paper size: 11" x 14".
Limited edition of 19, 2022. Signed and numbered in pencil.
This piece is part of an abstract series called Hatchlings. Hatchings and cross-hatchings are usually used in drawings/prints as a tool to help render a subject more realistic by helping to indicate value, create shadow, etc. I thought it'd be a fun and interesting exercise to make them the actual "object & subject" the prints (ie. the "stars of the show" for once), hence the series and title "Hatchlings."
The "hatchlings" in the print were cut out and glued onto a 2-ply mat board to make a three-dimensional collagraph plate, then hand-pulled through the press to make the blind embossment.
Alternate colors in white and gray are also available.
Print only, frame not included.

These prints are original artworks made by hand, so there will be slight variations between prints within the edition. That's what makes each one unique!
Please note that the actual color of the piece might differ slightly due to differences in individual monitors/screens.
